How to Clean Those Pesky Mini Blinds

As you all know, we have been doing a lot of house remodeling projects and we are packing and cleaning up our home to prepare for our big move. Well, this past weekend I got busy cleaning several of our mini blinds that we will be taking with us.

I am not a big fan on cleaning mini blinds as I find it to be a long and time consuming task. Not only that, those little buggers can cut up your hands and fingers if you are not careful with them.

To start, I had hubby take down 4 of our mini blinds and take them into our bathroom. I placed a rubber bath mat onto the bottom of our tub so that the blinds wouldn’t scratch our tub’s surface.

I cleaned one set of mini blinds at a time by placing the blinds in their open position in the bottom of my tub and heavily spraying them down with Simple Green cleaner. I left the cleaner sit on them for about 10 minutes and then used a sponge to wipe them down a little more.

We have a combination shower so I pulled the shower head nozzle down and sprayed warm water all over the mini blinds to rinse them off. Wow, they were sparkling clean when I was done.

For drying, I laid beach towels out on our patio deck and had hubby drag the blinds out to the deck and lay them onto the towels. The sunshine and heat had them dry in about 20 minutes time. Once done, they got packed into the boxes and are clean & ready for our big move!

I clean my blinds the same way you do – in the bathtub. In between I use cloth rags or Swiffer.
