My husband and I live in Pennsylvania which is part of the Mid-Atlantic region and a lot of retirees around here seem to be moving down to Florida once they retire. Some of these folks move down there all year long and others just move down for the winter.
Case in point, my mother-in-law who is recently widowed has told us that she wants to move down to Florida and is currently checking out 30A Real Estate to see what they have.
My MIL would like to find a nice condo or town-home in an all adult retirement community. She loves Florida and enjoys being near the beach, so it’s probably a good choice for her now that she is a retiree. Not only that, my brother-in-law lives down there, so she can be close to her son.
I can certainly understand why a lot of older adults and senior citizens flock to Florida, because our winters here in Pennsylvania can be brutal. As someone who is in her mid-40’s, I hate our winters too!
For me, my ideal wintertime season would indeed be me living on a white sandy beach, lots of warm sunshine and plenty of outdoor activities to do. What about you? From what I understand, Florida is the ideal place to live during the winter season!
If you could live any where in the USA during the wintertime months, where would it be?

To me Florida is too humid, and full of retirees from the New York/Mid-Atlantic region! Since I have arthritis I guess Arizona or Colorado would be a better climate
I’m retired now but I moved here to the southwest Gulf coast of Florida 11 years before I retired. I’ve never been happier or felt more at home than I feel here. We really only have two seasons, spring and summer, and we can sit on the beach, swim in the pool, play golf or tennis almost every day of the year. Your MIL should definitely make the move. Living in paradise is awesome!
Lots of people from Iowa are ‘snowbirds’ in Florida too, our MidWest winters can be horrid.
If I could go anywhere and afford it, I would go to Hawaii (never been) or Florida or somewhere near a beach on the coast too!
