For the past 3 months my husband and I have been spending every weekend over at the house working on our remodeling projects and landscaping projects, so that the house will be ready for us to move into, come late September.
Well, for the past month, I have been eaten alive by various bugs while doing our landscaping projects. When I say “eaten alive” I currently have 27 bites on me! The swelling, redness and itching is terrible to say the least!
The great folks over at Wisconsin Pharmacal Company sent me 4 great outdoor products to try out for all of you. I will briefly describe each product I received and the sum up how well they worked for my family.
The Coleman SkinSmart Insect Repellent is DEET FREE! It comes in an aerosol can and is odorless. This insect repellent provides 8 hour protection for the entire family. It will repel mosquitoes and ticks for up to 8 hours and we all know how important that is! This product also comes in a pump-action spray bottle for those who don’t care for aerosols or if you want to apply it to your face, the pump bottle is the way to go. They sent one of each to me for the review.
The Coleman SkinSmart Insect Repellent in a convenient GoReady Spray Pen which their famous DEET FREE formula. This neat & convenient spray pen is compact in size but contains 180+ sprays. It’s great to carry around in your purse, backpack, beach bag, diaper bag or toss it into the glove compartment in your car. I love this small sized spray bottle!

The StingEze Insect Bite Relief Dauber Pen is absolutely fantastic! This product will give you instant relief from mosquito bites, bee stings, ticks, chiggers, fire ants and more! It is ammonia-free and gentle on the skin. It stops pain, relieves itching and reduces the risk for infection. It has a sponge-tip applicator which I find super easy to use! It is an external analgesic and a first-aid antiseptic in one easy-to-use pen!
My Thoughts on the Products: Well, I never thought I would be super excited to tell you all about insect repellents, but I am! I have been using these products for a week now and I love them! I love that they are DEET-FREE and odor-less! They are easy-to-use and I am getting effective results in using them. I have been spraying myself, my hubby and Little G with the products every time we are out in the yard or over at the park. In one week, I have only gotten one new bite! Wow, that is miracle because the bugs have been loving me this year and I normally get 10 a day if I spend any time outdoors!
For a month I was using another over-the-counter “itch relief” product (it was a cream) and it was doing a terrible job! I was ready to rip my skin off with a few of these big bites I had gotten and it did very little to relieve my itching. Well, this StingEze Dauber Pen is the best thing since…well… SLICED BREAD! Within 1 minute, my itching is completely gone and it stays gone for several hours at a time. I am finally getting some great “itching” relief and I will never be without the StingEze pen again! I love that thing!
