Buying a Home in Kansas City

August 1, 2012 by Shelly

Do any of our blog readers live in Kansas City or the surrounding area? If so, I got a question for you. My neighbor Kathy and her husband Tom are planning a move and are looking for Kansas City homes for sale. She was telling me last weekend that Tom got a job transfer to KC and they need to purchase a home, and get moved by the end of September.

They have only been to the area 3 times and that is while Tom was checking it out and considering his new job offer/transfer. He is a train engineer and has worked in that field for the past 29 years. He has been waiting a long time for this job promotion and finally got it!

When it comes to buying a new home, they are looking for a 2-story home with 3 to 4 bedrooms, living room, family room, 2 1/2 baths, modern kitchen, dining room, basement and an attic. They would prefer a fenced-in yard with a small in-ground swimming pool. Having a garage is not important to them but would be an added bonus.

Their 3 kids attend private school now, but they will be homeschooling them once they get moved. Do any of you know if home-schooled kids can participate in sport’s programs at the local KC schools? Here in central PA, they can and hopefully the kids can do that too once in KC.

If you all have any ideas on where they might find a beautiful new house (no fixer-uppers please), let us know in our blog comments below. Thanks!

Disclaimer: This is a blog conversation brought to you by Remax, however, all the points and views are my own.
