Gorgeous Grapes from Central Valley in California

For our Almost Wordless Wednesday, we are taking a trip to the wine country. No, not Napa, although that is famous for its fabulous grapes and just a 2.5 hour drive from me. Nope, we are visiting Madera in the Central Valley. The valley is also known for its wonderful grapes and in fact it is home to the famous Gallo wine company as well as several others. Ever hear of Sunmaid Raisins? They are right here in this area too.

This year the grapes are hanging heavy with fruit and it is almost harvest time. Delicious sweet and tangy grapes of all varieties are grown in California. Here is a shot of a typical grape vine. Some of these vines can get to 40 years old or more and still produce fabulous fruits, if they are well taken care of. Most of the farms here take excellent care of their grape vines.

Delicious!

  1. Never been to a vineyard or California, maybe someday, I’m sure it’s beautiful

I have picked grapes from vineyards for service projects many times. They are always in the most beautiful areas!

Since I’m ignorant of the layout of vineyards in California I incorrectly assumed that they were all in Napa Valley. Perhaps someday I can travel around California.

  4. We love visiting the vineyards in our area. We are HUGE here with grapes:)
