Vent: The Over-Exposure of Bra Straps

The Over-Exposure of Bra Straps

Today my post is actually a vent…something I need to say and something I need to get off my chest!

When I started wearing a bra in my “tween” years, my mother and grandmother always told me that a lady’s bra should be covered. That means that your bra straps should not be sticking out from under your shirt! As you wear different styles of shirts, you wear the appropriate bra for that particular shirt. In addition, I was taught that it was “taboo” to wear a white sheer shirt with a solid black bra.

Well my vent today is this…I am really sick and tired of seeing all these teenagers and women running around wearing tank tops with their bra straps sticking out! Earlier today when I was at the doctors, I saw a twenty-something young woman wearing a black bra under a strapless tube top and her black bra straps of course were showing in all of their glory.

A few days earlier when I was at our local grocery store and getting groceries, I ran into a woman who had a sheer yellow tank top on and she had a green bra and it’s straps were sticking out. (spaghetti strap tank top with 1″ wide thick green bra straps)!!!!!

What the heck is going on in fashion these days? Is this a new unclassy fashion trend that I don’t know about? Whatever happened to women keeping their bras under their shirts, including the dang bra straps? Seriously, someone clue me on this as I just don’t understand it!!!

Personally, I will stick to the advice that my Nana and Mother gave me and keep my girls and my bras covered up and hidden underneath my shirts. I find it totally disgusting to see bra straps when a girl is wearing a spaghetti strap tank shirt or even a strapless tube top! Why not buy a freaking strapless bra? Someone please explain this to me!!!

Well, that is my vent for today…sigh!

Don’t get me started on this- bra straps, pajama bottoms (on both men and women) panties hanging up over the top of their pants, and the worst offender pants hanging below their butt strapped up by a belt…….

Oh I hate all of that stuff too! This new generation of young girls are really messing up in the fashion department for sure! I don’t like seeing pajamas at the grocery store either. I actually saw a gal wear a nightie and a house robe once into our local nail salon. Totally lazy!

I also hate that people seem to think it’s ok to wear pajama bottoms in public, and some with house slippers too. It’s just trashy looking.

Amen to that ladies! Which makes me think? We were taught to be ladies not just women! My mother also told me that, “Men like to unwrap their own packages, So dress like a lady.” Enough said! The other thing that really gets me is the young girls and I mean girls! Hanging out! Why do they have to flaunt what God has blessed them with? So when I guy looks, he’s a pervert or a stalker! If you wear a sign on your chest (dress the part) shows I am easy, free, cheap and willing. It is going to happen to you. Wow I had to vent too! Sorry!

I agree. That’s what I was taught, too. I think we saw the same woman with the black bra and tube top. I did a double take. And, it’s not just young people anymore. I see women in their 40s doing this now. Maybe we are just behind the times. I’m stayin’ there.

      Linda,

I don’t think we are behind the times, I think it’s just that we are all “Classy” women and not “Skanky” LOL Which reminds me, I saw a woman in her late 40’s wearing daisy duke denim shorts and sticking out the top of them was a pair of red lacy thongs! I hate seeing thongs hanging out!!!

I agree! This is so unclassy and looks sloppy! My mom would smack me too!
