Time to Gut and Remodel the Old 1970’s Guest Bathroom

Old 1970's Guest Bathroom

For the past 3 months I have been blogging about all of the home remodeling projects we are currently working on. Well, it’s time to start on the guest bathroom! The previous owners of the house had this as their master bathroom but hubby just completed adding onto our house a brand new spanking master bath.

As you can see from my photo, it’s pink and black 1970’s ceramic tile and is rather small. We are gutting the entire bathroom, removing the tiles, bathroom fixtures, tub, toilet, sink, flooring, etc. are all being trashed! Ewww, this is sooo not my style!

We have already picked out a lovely pedestle sink (it’s a small bathroom so I needed to go with a pedestle style) and now it’s time to shop for some stylish and classy faucets. I don’t care for brass, goldtone or bronze bathroom fixtures so I am definitely looking for silvertone or brushed nickel. Your thoughts?

The decor of this bathroom will be a coastal decor with khaki, white and pale blue to represent the ocean and the beach. I haven’t decided on the flooring just yet but I am thinking about a pale khaki colored tile and then some bathroom throw rugs on top.

The tub is being yanked and a sunken whirlpool garden tub will be going in and white or khaki colored tiling surrounding it. There will be no shower as we have a shower in our master bathroom and in our other guest bathroom. This bathroom will just have a small linen closet, whirlpool tub, toilet and pedestal sink.
