Marketing Your Business with an html Email Newsletter

Marketing Your Business with an html Email Newsletter

I have been working from home and running various online businesses since 1998 and one of the best ways for you to market your business online is with a Mad Mimi html email newsletter.

Email marketing campaigns have proven time and time again that they are a valuable asset to your business when they are used the correct way. Over the years, I have learned a lot of what a customer/client likes and dislikes when it comes to receiving newsletters from businesses.

Today, I thought I would share some of those likes/dislikes with all of you.

* Customers really dislike huge graphics in their email newsletters and they dislike having more than 3 graphics in the newsletter at any given time. When you overload your newsletters with way too many graphics it slows the load time, can crash older computers and it’s hard on the eyes.

It is best to resize all graphics and make them smaller, but visible. Keep the quantity of graphics limited to no more than 3 per email newsletter.

* Customers really dislike dark colored backgrounds with bright neon colored text. You should use a white or light gray background and keep your text color black or dark gray. Just because you like the vibrant and loud colors, doesn’t mean your readers do! We also suggest that you use an easy to read font style and font size.

Some customers print out newsletters for future reference, to share with friends/family members or for offline reading. It is your job to make them easy to read and easy to print.

* Customers really dislike email newsletters that are full of nothing but sale’s ad specials! Many customers will look at your newsletter as nothing but a spam ad newsletter if you don’t put in informative and educational information.

Customers want and need information! Give customers detailed product information on your product or service. Tell them how they can use it and why they need it. Sprinkle additional tips in your newsletter such as customer testimonials, tips passed to you from customers and any other textual educational information that you can.

* How often you publish a newsletter can make or break your subscriber list. If you publish one too often, it will drive your readers away. If you don’t publish one often enough, they will lose interest in your company and/or products.

The frequency of how often you publish a newsletter will depend on what type of business that you have and how often you need to update your customers/readers on your products and/or services. For most businesses, you should NOT be publishing an email newsletter more than once a week.

As you can see, there are many wrong ways and right ways to write and publish a business newsletter. We hope that these tips will help you publish a great newsletter that you can send out to your customers or clients.

When it comes to getting a newsletter in your email box…What do you like or dislike with the ones you currently receive?
