Yesterday I told you about our issues with the car and how my son hit this giant dip in the road where it is sinking and blew out the tire. So I make a call to our lovely city roads and maintenance department and left a message for a call back. So I waited. And waited.
This morning by 11:00 or so the guy had not called back yet (they start at 7 am). So I called him again and the secretary answered and when I asked for him she says Oh yes, just a moment and transferred me… to his voicemail again. Ugh. So I leave another message and I am getting irritated.
It is now after 3 my time, no call – no response at all. Now I am not surprised, really, I am not. I figured that they would blow me off and ignore me and I was so right. But that does not make it any better. I am sorry, but I am a customer to them. I pay the taxes that pay their salary. The Least he could do is have the secretary call me and tell me to jump off a cliff or something if he is too much of a wuss to deal with me. But to completely not respond to a dissatisfied customer is not acceptable in any form. It is so rude – I just don’t get it!
At this point, I am not too happy. I am debating if I should take it up the chain to the city manager. I love rattling chains and I am very good at it, but I have to decide if this jerk is worth the effort. I am thinking so… lol I need a bit of fun in my life right now and I hate rude people!
I would go over his head if you aren’t getting a response. Make someone aware that the person doesn’t respond to calls. Unless he is on vacation there is no reason not to have a response, it isn’t like he goes out fixing things he works in an office. I am sure the city is well aware of this hole, and if there has been property damage they ought to get it taken care of.
Wild isn’t it? Well the city is closed on Fridays due to budget cuts so we shall see what happens Monday. I think going up the line more is going to be worth it.
That giant dip in the road needs to be repaired pronto! Someone will eventually have a serious accident because of it and it will be that jerk’s head on the line when and if that happens! Geesh! I would be rattling a slew of chains to get results!
I would personally ask to speak with his boss and see where that gets you, I have had this happen to me before and the only time I get a response is rattling chains like you said. Even bosses have a boss, that’s my motto!
Since this is his department, this is his job, and they aren’t even being responsive, I would leave him one last message that if he doesn’t respond to me by xxx time that I am calling the local news station for assistance. He may or may not respond. Or just go ahead and call them and tell them your story. They love this kind of local news story, and it may facilitate your efforts since if he plans to run again or keep his job, bad publicity isn’t his friend. That is how I would handle it if I got no response.
Maybe he’s on vacation or out sick? Perhaps the secretary can’t tell you that due to confidentiality. Just a thought, sorry about the tire though!
That’s the way of the world these days-rude and disrespectful. it’s so sad.

Normally I might let it go, but you go for it. It is his job and if he doesn’t want to do it, there are several others needing a job who would. If he does this to you who or how many others does he ignore.
