I guess a sign that I am growing old is the fact that I do not enjoy listening to gossip! I will admit, when I was younger and in my teens and twenties, I could gossip and would gossip about others.
I think once I hit the ripe age of 30 or so, I was no longer interested in gossip and from that time on…it really annoys me when family members or friends call me up and want to gossip about someone I know. When I say annoy me…I really mean, “It freaking annoys me”.
At my super ripe old age of 45, I just don’t have the time of day to sit around and gossip about others. As I have matured over the years, I have realized that if so and so wants me to know their “business”, they will tell me their “business” all on their own!
Furthermore, half the crap you hear from the gossip grapevine has been blown out of proportion or completely been fabricated.
Instead of sitting around gossiping about folks, I would rather take a bubble bath, give myself a manicure/pedicure, take a nap or feed my face with chocolate. Seriously, I just have better things to do with my time than worry about the private lives of other people.
So today, I am venting about all of those folks in this world that have nothing better to do with their time (especially on a Sunday evening) than to sit around and call other people up to spread more gossip!
Do you gossip about others? Do you listen to gossip? Are you like me and just fed up with busy-bodies who sit around and “nose” into other people’s business and then “gossip” about them? ugh!!!
Life is too short to gossip! Gossiping shows your true character!
I totally agree Eliza! So far my day has been peaceful since I told the gossiper to not call me anymore if all she was going to do was gossip about other people! LOL
Thanks for the comments ladies. I just feel that people lead very busy lives these days and we all have better things to do with our time. If so & so wants me to know their business, they will tell me.
This one person I know sits around (she doesn’t work or hold a job) and just calls up folks 7-days a week to gossip about other folks. So, if she freely calls me up to just gossip about other people, you know dang well that she is gossiping about me to others.
I just don’t have time for it!
The reason I hate gossip is that much of it is expanded so much that the truth is stretched. What is even the point of that?
Thank you for sharing this article. It is really hard to stop once you have become a gossiper. too bad and as some get older they tend to complain about everything. They are extremely hard people to be around. I guess they really need our prayers. I pray everyday I will not engage in to it and that I will be a better person today than I was yesterday. Not boastful! Just humble and remember who I am and how I want to be remembered.
