For the past few months I have been telling you all about the various home improvement projects we are doing to a 50 year old house that we purchased 2 years ago. We are about 1/3 of the way done and hopefully can get another 1/3 of our projects done before the end of summer, so we can move into the house.
Well, last weekend my husband was gutting the kitchen and our grand daughter wanted a drink of water. I go to turn on the kitchen faucet and immediately water started gushing out from under the sink. We knew right away we needed some professional plumbers to come in, but…we were not sure who to call and it was the weekend!
We decided to call up a few friends who had recently built homes or remodeled homes and asked them who they used for the plumbing services? With their recommendations we compiled a list of 5 possible plumbers to suit our needs.
We then followed up by getting online and doing a few web searches on local plumbing company reviews and found several sites who offer free reviews on that type of thing. We found one company that came highly rated and gave them a call.
Now remember, this is during a weekend and in the middle of the day and this company sent out 2 plumbers to take a look at our problem. Well, apparently the previous home owners knew they had a plumbing problem and tried to fix it themselves. They had very old copper plumping pipes and those pipes were failing in a big way. The previous owner removed some of the pipes and put in cheap pipes and didn’t connect them correctly.
When I turned on the kitchen faucet the water pressure caused 2 of the pipes to come completely unattached from one another! We ended up with a river in our kitchen until hubby got all of the water shut off. Our grand daughter sure had fun splashing around in the water and thankfully, the flooring is scheduled to be replaced in 2 weeks.
Anyway, these 2 nice plumbers came out and diagnosed the problem within 15 minutes. About 2 hours passed and they had our problem completely fixed. They were super nice, fast and very knowledgeable about our problem. We couldn’t be happier about the service that we received and we got that excellent service on a weekend!
Our advice to all of you if you ever have a plumbing problem is to ask your friends and family for their referrals. Once you compile a list, get online and do a quick search for local plumbing reviews and then narrow down your choices.
That is exactly what we did and we are glad we did it that way! We got great service and if we ever have a major plumbing problem again, we know exactly who to call.
