Considering Bankruptcy?
A few weeks ago I told you all about my 27 year old daughter and the awful financial problems she was having due to medical debt. Well, I wish we had known about some online web sites like billsbills as that would of really helped up last year when she filed for bankruptcy.
Just to refresh your memory, my daughter is the mother to a 3 year old little girl. When my granddaughter was a year old, she had 2 surgeries and a few health problems that needed to be dealt with. At the time, my daughter didn’t have insurance and all of these medical bills just piled up! It was a real financial nightmare!
Within 4 months of Little G’s surgeries, those nasty bill collectors started calling my daughter’s home numerous times a day, 6 days a week. They broke the law by calling her numerous times at her place of employment and even had enough nerve to call me at my home about it. They will stoop to the lowest of lows to try to get money out of you!
This constant harassment (and yes, I mean harassment) by these bill collectors almost drove my daughter to a nervous breakdown! I felt so terrible that she had to go through this and I am not in the position where I can pay $45,000 in debt for her.
After 9 months of this nonsense by the bill collectors, my daughter made the hard decision to file for bankruptcy and let me tell you, it was the BEST thing she could of done!
The process took a couple of weeks and once it was done, the harassment stopped! Peace had returned to all of our lives again and she has been able to move forward.
I do want to say…it wasn’t that my daughter wasn’t paying on these bills, she was! However, this jerks wanted higher payments and wanted it more frequently and she couldn’t keep a roof over their heads by paying their outrageous demands. Sure, it might of taken her 25 years to pay off that debt, but she would of paid it if they would of been satisfied with those smaller payments.
While we are not proud that she had to take that road, it was the best option for her. Anyway, I just wanted you all to know that there is help out there if you ever get yourself into a financial situation like my daughter was in.
