Shopping for New Kitchen Spice Racks

June 1, 2012 by Shelly

A few days ago you all read my big post on our kitchen remodeling update so today I wanted to update you again on some additional things we are working on for our new kitchen.

As you all know, I absolutely love to cook and bake so it’s important to me that I have all of my spices nicely organized and readily available for when I need them. I put a lot of thought into this and decided I needed to get a few new spice racks for our kitchen.

First, I want a magnetized spice rack to put on the side of my refrigerator as I feel that would keep the 12 spices that I use almost daily pretty hand for me and within reach. It would also free up some of my countertop space and cabinet space.

Second, my hubby is building me a walk-in pantry closet so I am thinking about going with a nice large wall spice rack which will hang inside the pantry closet. I found one that holds up to 50 spice jars and I think it would be perfect for me and my cooking needs. Plus, our pantry closet will be cool, dark and dry which is the perfect place for me to house my massive spice jar collection.

I use a lot of dried and fresh spices in my cooking, grilling and baking so I want to get myself better organized in the kitchen and I think a few new spice racks will help me do that.

I would love to know how all of you organize your spice jars? Do you have them on the countertop, in a cabinet, in a drawer or in a pantry?

Mine are in a cupboard and have been for years and years- and are a mess! I have always wanted to do a spice rack and really should as I grow some herbs and dry them. Normally for those though I freeze them and pull them out when needed.
Kitchen remodels are fun a walk in pantry would be a dream, we just dont have the room for it- this house is circa 1900 and the kitchen seems to have been moved from where the dining area currently is and the ‘new’ kitchen is a very small add on built sometime in the 40s.
We keep contemplating moving so have never remodeled it besides changing it from a flat roof to a pitched roof during a roofing project. I would love to enlarge it for more modern fixtures- a dishwasher doesnt even fit in there!
