My Sister’s Car Accident
Two weeks ago I told you all about my sister who was moving to Austin Texas to start a new job. Well, a week ago they finally got moved into their new house and guess what? She was in a car accident!
She was sitting at a red light waiting to make a left-hand turn and this car full of teenagers came up behind her and slammed into her back end. She said their music was blaring and you could hear it blocks away and she thinks they were out joy riding and just having a good time.
A passerby called an ambulance and they took my sister to the hospital. We are thankful that she only had minor injuries but she will be off work for the next 8 to 12 weeks.
Now that she is back home and resting comfortably, my brother-in-law is doing some online searches to find a good accident lawyer. I am not sure if he is contacting them or what, but those teenagers need to cough up some money and pay for her injuries and the car damage.
I have no issues with teenagers driving around on our roads but I do take great issue when there are a slew of teenagers crammed into one car, blaring their rap music and out on the roads joyriding for a good time. That really irritates me to no end!
When our daughter was a teenager she was not allowed to have more than one friend at a time in the car with her. We felt this warded off the joyriding that many teenagers do and that rule did indeed work in our household.
As a parent, I didn’t want to be responsible for other kids being in our vehicles when our daughter was a teenager and I felt our rules of the road were responsible and warranted. In today’s modern society kids don’t think nothing of it to cream 6 teens into one vehicle and then go speeding down the road like they are the coolest things on earth. Just frustrates me to NO END that parents are not monitoring their teen’s driving behavior.
Anyway, my sister will heal in due time and be back to work in a few weeks. In the meantime she is going to laze around the house, heal and do some knitting.
