Today I would like to introduce you to the company called Educational Insights based out of Southern California. Educational Insights is the manufacturer of playful products with serious educational value, including subject-specific classroom products, teacher resources, educational toys, and games. Their products are designed by seasoned educators and parents who know that children love to learn when you make that learning experience fun!
When you visit the Educational Insights online web site you will find that it’s really easy to navigate. The web site has three tabbed categories which are the sections for Parents, Teachers and Classroom Jeopardy. Since I am a mother and grandmother…I could spend hours just browsing around their parent’s section of the web site. In addition, purchasing educational toys and games for my 3 yr. old Little G is important to me as I want her to be learning while having fun playing.
My Review: For our review we received the GeoSafari Jr. Laptop Jr. to review for all of you. Little G just turned 3 yrs. old last week and this laptop is geared towards kids ages 3 and up. It is the perfect “first” laptop for kids! The laptop has 126 interactive activities to help introduce and reinforce: The Alphabet, Phonics, Sight Words, Reading, Science, Math, Visual Discrimination and Social Studies. All of these educational lessons are award-winning ones so your child will definitely learn and have fun along the way.
The laptop is made out of a hard but yet durable plastic which is perfect for kids. It isn’t heavy but will handle the “play” that kids will put it through. It has a hinged lid, a carrying handle and once you are inside of the laptop you will find a storage compartment that holds a full set of activity cards. In addition, all of the lights that are inside the laptop and the sounds that the laptop makes helps to keep your child’s learning fun and interesting.
The laptop’s key pad is perfectly sized for little hands but yet big enough for us adults to use too (when we are teaching our children how to use the laptop). It requires 4 AA batteries which are not included. (I appreciate that it uses AA batteries as they are more affordable than big C sized batteries).
As I stated earlier, we decided to give this new laptop to Little G for her Birthday. She always tries to mess with my laptop so it’s about time she had her own! I spent about an hour showing her how it works. She is 3 years old so some of the activities she couldn’t do just yet…but many of them she could! One of her favorites is the #87 Go-Togethers Activity Card and she really loved that one! For that activity there is a list of words that I would read off to her and she had to find the photo of the item to go with the list of words (“like” items) and she loved doing that!
Activity Card #116 is called “A Floater or a Sinker?” For this activity your child picks out which items they think will float in the kiddie pool and which items they think will sink in the kiddie pool. This would be Little G’s second favorite activity card and had fun with this one too!
We are really pleased with this GeoSafari Jr. Laptop Jr. kid’s computer. Little G has been having a blast with her new laptop for the past week and absolutely loves it! She finds it fun, entertaining and she is learning from it! yeah! We give it 10 stars out of 10 stars on our rating scale and highly recommend it to all of you!
