Today I would like to introduce you to the company called Educational Insights based out of Southern California. Educational Insights is the manufacturer of playful products with serious educational value, including subject-specific classroom products, teacher resources, educational toys, and games. Their products are designed by seasoned educators and parents who know that children love to learn when you make that learning experience fun!
When you visit the Educational Insights online web site you will find that it’s really easy to navigate. The web site has three tabbed categories which are the sections for Parents, Teachers and Classroom Jeopardy. Since I am a mother and grandmother…I could spend hours just browsing around their parent’s section of the web site. In addition, purchasing educational toys and games for my 3 yr. old Little G is important to me as I want her to be learning while having fun playing.
Our Review: For our review we received the GeoSafari Jr. Talking Bug Net to try out for all of you. As you already know…we love the Educational Insights line of toys and games so when this product arrived, we were super excited to receive it. This toy is made for ages 4 and up. Little G just turned 3 and with some supervision she is still able to play and use this wonderful product.
The set includes: (1) Talking Bug Net (1) Praying Mantis (1) Ladybug (1) Spider (1) Grasshopper (1) Bee (1) Butterfly and a parent’s/teacher’s guide.
Catch the Learning Bug! Choose a bug and drop it into the net to hear more than 60 amazing bug facts! Then, listen and respond as the Talking Bug Net asks you creepy, crawly questions using the facts you’ve learned. There are 2 ways to play…the fun facts mode or the game play mode.
The net is really light-weight and perfectly sized for little hands. You will need 3 AAA batteries for the net and they are really easy to install. There are 2 buttons on the handle of the net: Fun Facts and Game Play. We suggest starting out with the Fun Facts mode first and then as your child learns the facts, you can proceed to the game play mode.
What is really cool with this Talking Bug Net is that the net automatically knows which bug you have placed inside it. Little G says that it’s magic! LOL Since receiving this Talking Bug Net we have played indoors and outdoors with it. At first Little G wouldn’t play with the spider at all as she is afraid of them. Over the past few days thanks to this fun toy…she now likes spiders and will pick it up and toss it into her net. She has even learned from the Talking Bug Net that the spider has 8 legs and will take the spider out of the net and show me (while counting) all 8 legs on that spider. It creeps me out but she is really enjoying it!
We think this is a wonderful educational talking toy that helps teach your child various bug facts while making it fun! Most toddlers hate bugs…this is a way for them to learn about them and to not become afraid of them. When Little G walks into our house, this is the first toy she picks up, she loves it!
