Finally Getting Some Relief From Chronic Hives

June 7, 2012 by Shelly

A few months ago I was up in New York for a mini business trip and had a medical emergency that needed to be dealt with. You see, for the past few years I have broken out with hives a few times every month. I have seen doctor after doctor for this problem and no one has been able to come up with an answer for it.

While hubby and I were up in New York for business, I decided to do a little research for a New York based dermatologist and found a group that is very experienced with all dermatology related conditions and problems.

Anyway, apparently my problem has a lot to do with my immune system and a few times a month my immune system freaks out and I bust out in hives from head to toe. These hives are super itchy and my skin always feels like it is on fire when I have these breakouts which can last for a day or two.

I am finally getting some help for this problem and have a regimen of medications to take when I bust out with the hives and then for a few days after the hive episode which now consists of steroids (topical and oral) and some Benadryl which helps too. In addition to that, I am learning about harmful chemical ingredients in some of the skin care products I used to use, which I now avoid.

Do any of you ever get breakouts from hives? If so, what do you do for them? Do you have sensitive skin or have any dermatology type of issues?

Do you buy a cleanse and do it yourself or go have it done somewhere?

I am on so many medications that sometimes I take some too close together and I break out in hives. this happens at least 4 times month. usually I can bear with it, but if it’s at night I’ll pop a benadryl.
Oh, my hubby just bought some cooling banadryl spray that i may try out next time.
Good luck, and hope you get relief.
