The Gardener & The Grill Cookbook

The Gardener & The Grill Cookbook Today I would like to introduce you to the company called Pig Out Publications who is the only company in the world who specializes in publishing and wholesaling BBQ and Grill Cookbooks! As part of our month long Summer Sun & Fun event, we knew this would be a great company to feature for all of you.

We received “The Gardener & The Grill” Cookbook to review for all of you. This cookbook is “the bounty of the garden meets the sizzle of the grill.” The cookbook was written by Karen Adler and Judith Fertig who are known as The BBQ Queens. ISBN 978-0-7624-4111-2.

Synopsis: The “Garden to Grill” cooking emphasizes sustainability, freshness, taste, color, and texture. Grilling from the garden also gives you twice the sense of accomplishment, first from growing your own food, and secondly, from making it taste so good. It doesn’t get any fresher than picking ears of corn and grilling them a few minutes late, slathered with a flavored butter.

The cookbook features 224 pages and most of the recipes come with color photos. The cookbook features 7 chapters plus a speciality grilling techniques chapter. The chapters are: (1) Pantry, (2) Appetizers, (3) Sandwiches, Flatbreads & Pizzas, (4) Soup & Salad, (5) Meat, Poultry & Fish, (6) Vegetable Sides and (7) Fruits & Desserts.

Here is an example of some of the recipes you will find in this fabulous grilling cookbook: Garlic Chive Pesto, Romesco Sauce, Grilled Autumn Apple & Blue Cheese Topping, Prosciutto-Wrapped Asparagus Spears, Fire-Roasted Pepper Dip, Grilled Green Tomato Sandwiches with Herbed Cream Cheese, Stir-Grilled Italian Sausage, Blackened Fish Po’ Boy with Grilled Green Onion Mayonnaise, Char-Grilled Baby Summer Squash Pizza, Grilled Asparagus Salad, Grilled Turkey Breast with Winter Greens and so many more! This cookbook really makes your mouth water!

The recipe we tried out for the review was the Grilled Cantaloupe Rings with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. This recipe only requires 3 ingredients (cantaloupe, brown sugar and vanilla bean ice cream). Since our grill was out being repaired, my daughter’s fiance invited us down and he made the recipe for us. For this yummy dessert, he simply grilled the cantaloupe rings on each side for about 3 minutes, brushing the sides with brown sugar. He then removed them from the grill and we placed them onto a dinner plate with 2 scoops of vanilla bean ice cream on top. Oh my gosh…so simple to make and ohhhhh so good!!!

You all are going to love this cookbook if you enjoy gardening and grilling! I am really looking forward to our harvest later this summer so that I can really dive into this cookbook and make a lot of their delicious looking recipes! We love this cookbook!
