Miss Those High School Football Games

High School Football Games

When our daughter was a little girl she started cheerleading at the age of 6 and continued to cheer until she was 18 years old. Jenelle was an excellent cheerleader and over the years she ended up being on 2 different squads!

My husband has always loved cougar football so it just seemed natural that we would be involved in football games in one way or another. Having a girl who was athletic and talented allowed us to continue to enjoy the great game of football, even without a son as a child.

The one squad our daughter was on was a competition squad and they traveled all over the place to compete against other cheerleading squads. A few places that she loved to compete in included Nashville Tenessee and Orlando Florida.

The thing we loved the most about her cheerleading was those Friday night football games! Hubby and I always looked forward to Friday nights when we would head to our local football stadium and watch the football game and our daughter cheering on the sidelines and during the halftime show.

This was a big deal to our family and often times our extended family showed up to watch the game and to see her cheer too! After the games were over we all would head to our local Pizzeria for some pizza, wings, salads and sodas. Wow, we sure do miss those family times now that our daughter is grown and on her own.

Now that we are grandparents to a 3 year old wee-one we are hoping that our grandchild will grow up to love the game of football so that we have a good reason to head out to the games again on a Friday night.

Do any of you have children who play football or have a cheerleader in the family? Do you love going to football games? We miss going to the games but hopefully some day soon we will have a reason to go again.
