We love fresh bananas here at our home and I bet I purchase 3-4 lbs. of bananas every week when I hit our local Farmer’s Market. We love to snack on bananas and we use them in our cereals, oatmeals, ice creams, yogurt and I love to bake with bananas too!
Here are some great tips on how you should be storing your fresh bananas.
1. Never store them in a plastic or paper bag as that will ripen them super quickly.
2. Bananas should not be stored in a produce drawer, bowl or just laid on the counter. This can bruise them and cause brown spots and gushy spots.
3. Do not store your bananas in a warm and moist place and don’t store them in direct sunlight.
The best way to store your bananas is to hang them up! If you don’t want to invest in a banana holder/banana tree, you can place a large cup cook or plant hook up under your kitchen cabinet (costs less than a buck) and hang them up on the hook!
