Roku is the original streaming player that connects right to your TV and to the internet in a flash. You can watch Television shows, movies, internet TV and shows, news stations, sports and hundreds of additional choices. Your family will never again say there is nothing on TV.
I was sent the Roku 2XD to review for you today and I was so surprised at how easy it was to set up. The unit is very small, like 6×6 or so, so it does not take up much room at all. You literally put batteries in the remote, plug the unit into the wall and then into the TV with the included AV cable. You then log into Ruko.com and set up your account. You do need to add a payment option in case you want to buy something that is a fee service. The system updates the TV immediately and you are ready to roll. Super fast and so cool!
My hubby and kid are totally in love with this. We already had a Netflix account so we imported that and also added some great channels like Pandora, Crackle TV, Hulu and a few other movie channels. We also added some weather and news channels and we are not even finished setting up.
I really like that it connects to the wireless internet so it can go into any room in the house. This is awesome for my guest room that did not have TV access. Now I do. Also this would be wonderful for areas that are really out in the boonies and get terrible if no reception. I know my dad is getting one of these! It is a great value and you can literally disconnect your cable or satellite if you found all of your favorite channels on the Roku. Many have done it and have not looked back!
This is definitely a keeper in my house! I think it would be great for so many applications like dorm rooms, kids rooms, you can even use in with your PC or laptop if you wanted to although you do not have to have one at all. You can access everything right through the Roku on your TV. What a fabulous idea and once you have one, you will wonder why you need satellite or cable any more! Check it out! The Roku is super cool!
