Here in the North East we start seeing an abundance of fresh strawberries hitting our local fruit orchards and farmer’s markets beginning the month of May, although this year they predict it will be the end of April due to our mild winter and spring.
Then in late July we start seeing a lot of fresh blueberries, red raspberries and blackberries and I grow all 3 of those in my own backyard.
We love a wide variety of fresh berries here in my household and make fruit juices, fruit smoothies, jellies, jams, fruit preserves and pie filling with them. Yes, I love to freeze and home can my harvest!
We also enjoy just snacking on them or tossing them into our breakfast cereals, oatmeals, pancakes or ice cream.
