Is Being Disrespectful Okay in Todays Society

April 30, 2012 by Classystaff

I have a big gripe today. I am shocked and dismayed at some of the disrespect I am seeing online and in social media outlets and I am really disgusted with it.

I was going through some of the people that started following me on twitter to see if I should follow back and there was a “social media PR firm” that had 152,000 followers and I thought, “wow nice”. So I started looking at her tweets and the first one that she tweeted this morning was a good morning to her bitches. As in – “Morning Bitches”.

OMG Really? to 152,000 people?

I am sorry but if you are calling me a bitch and 152,000 other people, I am OFFENDED!

Do you know me? Do you have the right to call Me a bitch like that?

I do not find that humorous – I find it appalling that this derogatory term is now becoming a mainstream slang for Friends, Best Friend, Buddy.. or whatever you want it to mean.

Why is being disrespectful to people acceptable in today’s society? Do we wonder why our youth are rude and disrespectful to each other and strangers?? Why are not more people offended by remarks like this?

If I was following her, I would unfollow. And If I was looking for a PR firm, I Certainly would NEVER hire someone like that to represent me!

Oh hey lady… good luck with growing your business. Attitudes like that aren’t going to prosper you in any positive way. Show some respect for your clients and potential clients and keep the street language at home – or get rid of it and show some respect for yourself!

I’m seeing a lot of disrespect to adults/teachers done in jest at my daughters’ schools too. Students hitting their teachers on the head as they pass by, slapping them on the arms and saying, “oh, it’s your fault that I forgot to turn in the health form.”, hitting their stomachs and saying that they are fat and some of the teachers allow that behavior. My parents would spank me and ground me if I EVER did that to an adult.

Amen Ladies. Thanks for your input. I went back and read more of her stream and it was AWful! OMG I was embarrassed for her and just goes to show that immaturity and “owning a business” do not work together! Scary

I totally agree with you. It just shows her age and lack of professionalism.

I have noticed this myself. There is a certain person that I get wonderful fitness information from so I have been following on facebook, twitter, forums, etc. I have to admit that one of the biggest reasons I started following was for the great giveaways and now I wonder why are so many companies backing her?
Recently I attended a twitter party and the ‘group’ (she has quite the following of groupies) were talking about half-naked video chats, sex toys, and I have seen the topic of body parts more than once. Really? During a Twitter party people??
I should unfollow and remove myself since it does tend to bother me and I have left the video chats before because of the conversations. You might be in your livingroom chatting, but for goodness sakes women, you aren’t really all sitting in your livingroom. These are open forums.
Thanks for bringing this out in the open. I am really considering moving on from the group now.
