Today I would like to introduce you to the foodie company called Honeyville Foods who makes and sells a wide variety of food storage and bakery supplies. The company has been in business since 1951 and specializes in producing freeze dried and dehydrated fruits and vegetables.

My Review: The great folks over at Honeyville Foods sent me their super large 6 oz. can of all-natural Freeze Dried Strawberries to review for all of you. These freeze dried strawberries are already sliced and can be used in any food application that calls for sliced strawberries. The unopened can has a shelf stable life of up to 15 years.

Honeyville Foods Freeze Dried StrawberriesYou can rehydrate the strawberries (3 parts of water to 1 part of strawberries) and it only takes 15-20 minutes to rehydrate them. Once they are re-hydrated you can use them in your baking recipes, toss them into cereal, oatmeal, ice cream or yogurt. You can also snack on them straight from the can if you love to snack on dried fruit snacks.

We chose to rehydrate them and then use them in our breakfast cereal. They are delicious and you would of never guessed they came from a can! They tasted exactly like freshly sliced strawberries from your backyard garden. Later that evening we used some of the re-hydrated strawberries in our vanilla ice cream for dessert that night. We just tossed them on top of the vanilla ice cream and then drizzled our hot fudge syrup on top. Oh my gosh, pure ice cream heaven!

I love to bake quick breads so I hydrated some of the strawberries and tossed them into my favorite strawberry quick bread recipe. I mixed up my batter and then poured it into my loaf pan. Placed it into the oven to bake and about 40 minutes later my freshly baked strawberry bread was cooling. Later that evening, the family munched on the strawberry bread while we were having family movie night. They all gave the bread a huge 2 thumbs up!

I love this large canister of Freeze Dried Strawberries! They can be used in so many ways and I don’t have to worry about running to the store every 3-4 days to pick up fresh. These berries taste just like your fresh berries once you rehydrate them which only takes a few minutes. They are convenient to use and they are super affordable at only $17.49 per can. Remember, this is a huge can so it will last you a pretty long time!

Now that I have tried the strawberries I want to try out some of the other freeze dried fruits that they sell like the raspberries, peaches, mangos and blueberries! I love to bake so I could really have a ball baking up some delicious treats for my family with all of the Honeyville Foods freeze dried fruits!
