Fresh from the Farmstand Cookbook by Gooseberry Patch

Fresh from the Farmstand Cookbook by Gooseberry Patch

Today I would like to introduce you to the company called Gooseberry Patch who sells a variety of country cookbooks, eBooks and calendars. If you are looking for a really cool fundraising program, Gooseberry Patch offers those too!

As you all know, I absolutely love to cook, grill and bake. I will also admit to all of you right now that I am a avid cookbook junkie too! I believe that I have around 100 cookbooks in my collection and trust me, they get a workout every week!

Gooseberry Patch sent me their Fresh from the Farmstand cookbook to review for all of you. This is a hardcover, 224 pages cookbook with over 240 delicious recipes inside. All of the recipes inside the cookbook utilize country-fresh fruits & vegetables – from apples to zucchini. There are chapters inside the cookbook for every meal of the day, along with some canning and freezing recipes too.

Every year we plant a big garden and I am always looking for new recipes to use up my freshly harvested crops. We are also very big farmer’s market shoppers, so I was super excited to receive this cookbook for our review.

The beautiful cookbook is broken down into 6 chapters: (1) Freshly Gathered Breakfasts, (2) Market-Basket Soups & Breads, (3) Garden-Fresh Sides & Salads, (4) Farmstand Feasts, (5) Summer’s Best Appetizers and (6) Berry Best Desserts.

For the review I selected the Berry Sweet Trifle recipe to make for all of you. This recipe utilizes only a few ingredients and is really easy to prepare. I served this Berry Sweet Trifle dessert to my family after we ate our Easter dinner. They loved it and by the time Easter day was over, there was nothing left! They all asked me to make it again soon!

The other recipe I made from the cookbook is called Garden Mini Meatloaves but instead of baking it in ramekins, I just baked it in a regular loaf pan. We had it for dinner a few nights ago and for the first time ever, we had no meatloaf left over! Wow, I love this meatloaf recipe because it utilizes fresh zucchini, onion and bell peppers which are a great way to get those extra vegetables into your diet.

I love my new cookbook and I am determined to make every single recipe in it this year! My hubby is super excited about it too as he loves to eat and he loves to eat new things! yeah!
