For the past couple of months I have been telling you all about the various home improvement projects we have been doing on the house that we purchased early last year.
What is really cool about this shower and tub shelf is that you can purchase the do-it-yourself kits and install these beautiful bathroom accessories yourself in your own home. All of their DIY kits come with complete easy to understand instructions and there are various YouTube Videos on their site to help guide you.
Our Review: My husband was super excited about receiving the hand-crafted Konos-M bathroom shelf for our product review. It is available in 3 sizes and we chose the medium size which measures 7 1/2″ in size. The shelf is available in 8 different color patterns, so you can choose the one that will go best with your bathroom decor. We selected the Ankara which works well with our ivory colored ceramic tiles.
The Ankara corner shower shelf is in a creamy beige color in unfilled Travertine stone. It is finished on both sides with a full bull-nosed edge. Along with the shelf, we received their handy dandy wall-mounted installation kit which includes everything you need to install the shelf. Everything arrives safely secured in a sturdy box and is ready to roll once you receive it.
My husband spent a few minutes reading the instructions included in the kit and spent an additional 10-15 minutes watching the YouTube videos on their site and then got busy with the installation. We washed down our shower wall and dried it. He also made his pencil marks to make sure he had it even and at the placement height that I wanted it.
Once he was done with all of that he got busy using the sandpaper to roughen up the tile surface so that we would get good adhesion when he applied the self-stick support tabs up onto the shower wall. (these support tabs remove once you are done installing the shower shelf).
He then applied the epoxy adhesive onto cardboard and used a putty knife to put a thin layer of epoxy onto the shelf support. He then applied both of the shelf supports on top of the self-stick support tabs. As he went along, he made sure everything was nice and even. You need to let all of this dry and set up for at least 4 hours. We decided to let ours set up overnight.
The next day he made sure everything had cured and was stable. He then applied a thin line of silicone where the shelf supports meet the bathroom tiled wall. He then placed the shower shelf onto the silicone & shelf supports. He then inserted these little foam wedges between the shelf and the shelf supports. He then adjusted the shelf just a bit so that it will drain properly when wet.
We then waited about 8 hours before he finally went back into the bathroom to remove the wedges and temporary install tabs. He got out his caulking and applied a thin line of caulking around the shelf edges to fill in the gaps. He got out a sponge and cleaned up the area so that it looked nice and clean. We left the caulking part set up and dry overnight.
The very next morning we went into the bathroom to check it all out. Wow, what a major improvement to our bathroom! I love this stone shower shelf and I am really happy that I had hubby place it lower down the wall, because I am a bubble bath girl and needed a low shelf. The shelf is super sturdy and very beautiful to look at.
This do-it-yourself shower shelf kit is absolutely fantastic! It took my hubby 2 days to complete but that was because he needed to allow the epoxy and caulk to set up and dry. All the instructions were super easy to follow and anyone can do this DIY project! The shelf materials are all VERY HIGH QUALITY, you would NOT be disappointed with this bathroom shelf kit at all!
