Wooden Peppermills by Vic Firth Gourmet
Today I would like to introduce you to the company called Vic Firth Gourmet who sells some of the finest Salt Mills, Pepper Mills, Cocktail Muddlers and Rolling Pins that I have ever seen! The Vic Firth kitchen tools are available in a variety of sizes, styles, finishes and are very affordable.
All of the Vic Firth wooden salt mills, pepper mills and rolling pins are handcrafted in Newport, Maine and are guaranteed for life. These kitchen tools are beautiful to look at, made from high-quality materials and are built to deliver a lifetime of service to both the professional chef and home cook (like me!).
My Review: The generous folks over at Vic Firth Gourmet sent me one of their beautiful Federal Style Wooden Pepper Mills in the pretty cinnabar color to review for all of you. This wooden pepper mill stands 8″ tall and has silvertone hardware. I just love the shape, size and color of this pepper mill!
All of the Vic Firth Gourmet mills feature their “Lock & Grind” system for a wide range of grinds to give you consistent results when using their mills. To fill the pepper mill you simply unscrew the top nut and remove the top cap. You then fill it with pepper or salt (we filled ours with black pepper). Replace the top cap making sure it clicks into place. Screw on the top nut while pushing up on the bottom mechanism until flush. Tighten to your desired grind. (ours is pretty tight as hubby likes his black pepper pretty fine). Isn’t that easy? I think so!
The Vic Firth Gourmet pepper mills are fitted with a stainless steel two-step mechanism which first crushes the peppercorns for enhanced flavor, then grinds the peppercorns to the chosen consistency. All of the Vic Firth Gourmet salt and pepper mills have a pop-out mechanism for easy cleaning and they are the ONLY company that makes mills with this feature. You never want to put them into the dishwasher or submerge them in water. You can simply wipe them down with a damp cotton cloth and towel dry.
My hubby is absolutely in love with our new wooden pepper mill! I swear he puts pepper on the majority of his foods and our old pepper mill was not easy to operate like this one nor did it do a good job at grinding up the peppercorns into a “fine-like” consistency which hubby loves. This Vic Firth Wooden Pepper Mill is the absolutely BEST mill that we have ever owned! It’s fantastic quality, functions and works like a dream and guess what? It’s beautiful too! We absolutely love it and think you would love their mills too!
