Gluten Free Cassava Root Chips by CrispRoot
Today I would like to introduce you to the company called CrispRoot who makes a line of Cassava Root Chips that are gluten free, high in fiber and contain 30% less fat than standard potato chips. The CrispRoot Cassava Root Chips come in 4 tasty flavors: BBQ Bliss, Thai Ginger, Original and Sea Salt.
The Cassava Tree grows all over Asia, South America and Africa. The Cassava Root is the primary energy source for 800 million people all over the world. The Cassava can be eaten boiled, mashed or fried. This company decided to make a line of delicious tasting Cassava Root Chips with it!
My Review: For the review I received 4 large sized bags of Cassava Chips in each of the 4 flavors that they sell. I received 2 single-serve bags too. I wasn’t sure if my family would like them or not but we were willing to give them a try.
The BBQ Bliss Cassava Root Chips are flavored with BBQ seasoning (sweet & smoky) with a hint of brown sugar, chilies and spices.
The Thai Ginger Cassava Root Chips have an exotic flavor with ginger and lemongrass. They recommend trying them with red pepper humus!
The Sea Salt Cassava Root Chips have been sprinkled with a light touch of sea salt and are great served alone or with your favorite salsa.
The Original Cassava Root Chips have a hint of garlic, smidgen of sugar and a pinch of salt. If you love your chips plain…then this one would be for you.
Over the course of a week I served these Cassava Root Chips to my family for their lunch snacks (I pack lunches for them on most days to eat at work). Out of the 4 flavors I tried I only liked the BBQ Bliss and the Sea Salt Root chips and I would buy them if I could find them around here. My husband only liked the Sea Salt and the Original chips and my 26 yr. old daughter liked the Seas Salt and the BBQ Bliss. None of us care very much for the Thai Ginger chips. With that said, we all have different taste buds and likes…just because we didn’t like that flavor doesn’t mean you wouldn’t.
Everything tasted fresh and none of our Cassava Root Chips arrived crushed which is also a good thing. For those of you who are trying to eat healthier snack foods these Cassava Root Chips would be a great option for you since they are lower in fat, high in fiber and do have a nice unique flavor to them. They have a store locator on their web site where you can type in your location to see where they are sold near you.
