We bought an older home 7 years ago that was originally built in the late 1960’s. The home is old, but quite charming and spaceous in size. The original home owners owned the home from the time it was built until they sold it to us 7 years ago. Over the years, they never modernized it or updated it due to their financial budget and age.
For the past few months we’ve been gutting each room and building each room back up with modern lighting fixtures and conveniences. While it is taking us a lot longer than expected, we’ve been enjoying doing all of the work ourselves which really gives us that customized look that we wanted. Plus, we’re saving a lot of money along the way.
Recently we gutted the guest bathroom and I’ve been on the hunt to update everything in that room! We ripped out the pink & black ceramic tiled walls and hung up new drywall and then painted it a crisp eggshell white. Hubby then replaced all of the flooring, the tub/shower, toilet and vanity. Wow, what a difference that has made!
Now I’m trying to decide on what type of bathroom lighting fixtures to buy and install in that bathroom. I don’t want anything too elegant nor expensive…but yet I don’t want anything that’s too boring. I guess I’m looking for something classic, but yet chic. I do know that I don’t want any goldtone or bronze-tone fixtures and I’m really liking all of the brushed nickle metal fixtures that I’m seeing in the retail marketplace.
Have you recently undergone a bathroom remodel? What kinds of new things did you decide upon?
