The Benefits of Buying Organic Meat

February 14, 2012 by Shelly

This year my husband and I promised each other that we would lose weight and make healthier choices when it came to our family’s meals. One of the things we have been researching lately has been the health and environmental benefits of buying organic meat.

Here is some of what we learned:

Natural Meat and Organic Meat are not the same thing! Organic meat is always certified to be organic by an independent third-party agency and those meat producing animals are fed certified organic feed. In addition, animals are raised and treated humanely which is important to us!

All animals who are used for organic meat purposes are not given breeding hormones, antibiotics or growth hormones! The feed that is given to these animals is free of toxic pesticides, herbicides and synthetic fertilizers. What does all of that mean? Well, organic meat is healthier for you to consume and certainly better than the meat you find on your local supermarket’s shelves!

Now you might be saying to yourselves that you can’t find organic meat near your home but there is a solution to that! You can safely and securely purchase your organic meat online and have it shipped quickly and safely to your front door!

Some of you might be thinking to yourselves that organic meat is expensive but that is also untrue! It my personal experience it does cost a little bit more but I feel having a “healthier” meat to consume is certainly worth the extra expenditure.

My family has personally made the switch and I feel we are better off because of it. I am really glad that my husband and I decided to go “mostly” organic when it comes to our family’s meat choices.
