My Review: The great folks over at Learning Resources sent us their new “Jumbo Endangered Animals” play set to review for all of you. This set is made for ages 2 and up and contains 5 jumbo-size endangered animals which are perfect for little hands to handle. The set includes: Black Rhinoceros, Manatee, Giant Panda, Cheetah and Albatross. I love that the set comes packaged in a reusable storage box with carrying handle so it makes storage super easy on my grand-wee-one’s closet shelf when she is not playing with them. I also love the printed graphics on the storage box…super cute!
Inside the storage box is a learning guide that gives you each of the animal’s facts. Here are a few examples: (there are many more facts in the learning guide which is to be used as a teaching guide).
* The Black Rhinoceros eats grass, along with over 200 other plants and are considered “grazers” just like cows.
* The Giant Panda lives in the mountains of central China, where there are many bamboo trees for them to eat & the climate is cool and rainy.
* The Cheetah lives mainly in the desert & grassland habitats of Africa.
* The Manatee spends half of every day sleeping underwater & the rest of the day grazing on algae & leaves.
* The Albatross feeds on squid, octopus and other fish, swooping over the surface of the water or diving into it to catch their prey.
I absolutely love the sizes of these Jumbo Endangered Animals as they are perfect for little toddler hands. The animals are super realistic…matter of fact, I have never seen more “realistic” looking play animals ever! The Cheetah & the Rhino have black plastic stands that are removable which help them to stand upright when your child is playing with them. These are not cheap dime-store play animals that you are used to seeing…these are extremely well-made and just beautiful to look at and super fun to play with.
The grand-wee-one has been playing with them a lot since we received them and she actually loves using them with her Barbie dolls as the doll’s pets which is fine with me as I have been talking with her about the endangered animals and teaching her that people should NEVER keep wild animals like this as pets. I have also been using the learning guide to teach her “facts” about each one of the animals. She took this set to preschool a few weeks ago & her preschool teacher loved it & used the set to talk to the kids about the endangered animals, etc. We love this set & think you would love it too!
