Have you considered Cosmetic Dermatology for Droopy Eyelids?

February 7, 2012 by Shelly

My mother is 65 years old and considering getting some cosmetic surgery done…especially on her face. I think she looks beautiful for her age but she is concerned about her eyelids as they do seem to be drooping and have some wrinkling to them. As you all know, these issues come with age.

I have no problem in supporting my mother’s decision to have cosmetic surgery as it is totally her choice. She did find a reliable doctor who does eyelid surgery Mountain View and she is considering making an appoint to see what her options are.

I think for my mother this is both a cosmetic and medical decision since she feels that at times these droopy eyelids are obstructing her vision and we all know that is not a good thing since she still drives and is very active in our community. I think its really great that she is committed to staying active and is getting out and enjoying life to it’s fullest since she retired 3 years ago and like I said, I totally support her decision if this is what she chooses to do.

I did some research on her problem and I did read that this is a normal thing for people as they age because as we get older our skin loses it’s elasticity and facial bone and fat reabsorb to create decreased volume. I also learned that these changes occur more rapidly if you have a lot of sun exposure in your life (tanning is not good!), if you smoke or have dramatic weight loss. Apparently…all those things can contribute to sagging eyelids! Wow, so much to learn!

I am glad I am learning about these things now because hopefully if I take care of myself the “right” way, I won’t face the same issues that my mother is now having.

Have any of you suffered with this problem and if so…what did you do about it?
