Classic 2 Cheese Fondue Recipe for a Romantic Valentines Day Dinner

February 7, 2012 by Classystaff

If you are looking for an easy way to make a romantic dinner for your loved one for Valentine’s Day, this classic and traditional Cheese Fondue recipe is perfect. Easy to make and very delicious, especially when shared with someone special!

You do not need a fondue pot, but if you have one it works best. They are only $20 or less at the big box retailers

Classic 2 Cheese Fondue

Ingredients:
1 clove Garlic, halved
1½ cups dry White Wine
1 tbsp. Cornstarch
1/2 tsp Nutmeg
8 oz. Swiss or Emmental cheese, coarsely grated (2 cups)
8 oz. Gruyere cheese, coarsely grated (2cups)

Dipping Foods Such as Cubed French Bread, Fruit – Apples, Pears, Cut Veggies like Broccoli, Cauliflower, Small Boiled Potatoes, cubed.

Rub inside of a stainless steel pot with cut sides of garlic and throw away. Add wine to pot and bring to a simmer on stove over moderate heat. Combine grated cheeses in a bowl; sprinkle with cornstarch. Gradually add cheese to pot and cook; stirring constantly in a figure 8 pattern. This prevents cheese from balling up. Stir until cheese is melted and creamy. Season with nutmeg and a bit of pepper if desired. Do not boil or your cheese will separate! Simmer, stirring constantly until thickened 5 – 7 minutes.

If you do have a fondue pot, pour your mixture in there and light your fuel source to keep it warm during dinner. Enjoy!
