Mexene Chili Powder and Louisiana Hot Sauce
When the cold weather hits, I naturally gravitate towards delicious stews, soups, chili and other cold weather foods. They just seem to warm me up from the inside out. I think most people are like that too… comfort food, I guess.
I love chili and my family does too, but not near as much as I do. Plus I love mine with beans and my hubby likes his without so most times I do make it, I make 2 separate batches. My recipe is a self created one that I have been making for years and I really love the flavors. Yum…
Now that chili season is here, I was asked to do a review for some chili powder, mix and delicious Hot sauce. How could I say no? It meant I could make one of my favorite meals! Bruce Foods sent me some Mexene® Chili Powder which was created in 1906. Mexene features only the highest quality sun-ripened pre-frost chili peppers blended with cumin, oregano, and garlic. Just take a pinch between your finger and thumb, rub, and smell the delicious aroma. Mexene® Chili Powder is called “The Chili Champions’ Choice” and is endorsed by CASI, The Chili Appreciation Society International. Mexene is the secret ingredient used in the past eight winning recipes from the World Championship Chili Cookoff in Terlingua, Texas. Sounds good, huh?
I was also sent some Original Louisiana Hot Sauce; The original cayenne pepper sauce of Louisiana, with an 80-year reputation for quality and perfection. This versatile condiment can pep up almost any meal, especially chili, soups and stews. There’s only one ORIGINAL Louisiana Hot Sauce, and this is it!
They also sent a packet of Mexene pre mixed chili seasonings for an easy quick chili meal. I was super excited to try these products so I made my chili recipe using the Mexene Chili seasoning packet as my seasoning base. I browned up 1 lb of ground beef, added in 1 – 15 oz can of tomato sauce, the packet mix, 1 – 30 oz can of chili beans with the sauce and 1 – 15 oz can of pork and beans with the sauce. I let it simmer for 15-20 minutes and it is ready to roll.
I tasted my chili and it had awesome flavor. I love the Mexene seasonings. WOW! Much better flavor than the way I usually make it. I did decide that I liked a bit more heat to it, so I added in about 2 tablespoons of the Mexene Chili Powder and about 5 shots of the Louisiana Hot Sauce and let the simmer for a few minutes to blend the flavors. OMG This rocked! I ate it for lunch and then again for dinner LOL it is delicious!
I am sad to say that my area does not carry any of the Bruce Foods Mexene products but I can get them online through their store and this is definitely on my shopping list as a permanent item in my pantry. I love the packet mix and the chili powder. They have amazing flavor and taste! You have to give them a try!
