Andrea Metcalf Keeping Fit Workout DVD Trio

Andrea Metcalf Keeping Fit Workout DVDAs I mentioned in an earlier review, I have never been much of a gym workout-type person. I enjoy walking, light aerobic and low impact workouts but prefer to exercise in the privacy of my own home. I’m no old lady, but I’m no spring chicken either. When I was offered the opportunity to review Andrea Metcalf’s “Keeping Fit: Strength, Cardio, Pilates” 3 pack of workout DVDs, and read the description, I knew this would be a good fit for me.

Andrea Metcalf is a certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, BetterTV’s fitness correspondent, and makes frequent appearances on NBC’s Today Show. She has helped thousands of people stay fit over a career spanning 30 years.

My Review: What first appealed to me about these DVDs was that the description started off with “Fitness in your 40s, 50s, and Beyond”, and went on to say “Her DVDs provide the perfect mix of strength training, cardio, and core conditioning to help you stay fit and youthful for life.”

I love that each of the DVDs is divided into 10 five-minute workouts. There seriously have been days that I’ve only had a few minutes, either because of schedule, and/or lack of motivation. These types of “workout blasts” make it easy to fit a workout into my day, and my motivation level. I’ve been able to mix and match segments, and feel that between the three, and alternating days, I am getting a full, well-rounded workout throughout the week.

  • Keeping Fit Pilates was low-impact, yet full of benefits. I could especially feel them in my abs, but these exercises worked and stretched my entire body.
  • Keeping Fit Cardio certainly did get my heart pumping, even after just the first 5 minutes. This is one that I will be able to build on, meaning going from doing 10 minutes now, to lengthening it as I get in better shape.
  • Keeping Fit Strength involved the use of light hand-weights, which thankfully I already had, but you could use bottles of water if you didn’t. I like working my muscles, and this workout did just that.

The Keeping Fit Strength, Cardio, Pilates 3 DVD set is available online from AcaciaLifestyle, or find it on Amazon, (MSRP – $35.00) but I’ve seen it on sale for as low as $29.74. They are also available, as a set, or buy the DVDs separately (MSRP – $16.99) at major retailers that sell fitness products.

These three workout DVDs were created especially for women in midlife to help build bone strength and muscle, fight weight creep, boost metabolism, burn calories, and improve flexibility. All things I’m beginning to realize as my own age creeps up on me. Now is the perfect time to pick this up for a well rounded workout to help with the soon-to-come inevitable New Year’s resolutions.
