A Taste of Belgium Giftset From PALM Beer

I have the best job! I love tasting and reviewing things from all over the world! Today I have the distinct pleasure of reviewing beer. Ya, it is a tough job, I tell ya! There is nothing better than an ice cold beer sliding down after a long day.

PALM Beer has been brewing beers in Belgium for hundreds of years and when you taste this beer, you will know that they have had plenty of time to get it just right! PALM Ale has long been one of Europe’s top-selling specialty beers. Made with English hops, French Barley, and Belgian yeast, PALM represents the best of European beer-making traditions. It’s the roasted Champagne Malt which gives PALM its amber color, but without being heavy. PALM is a great alternative to traditional pilsners and lagers for the beer drinker looking for something a little different.

I was sent a cool gift set from PALM Beer called A Taste of Belgium. It had 2 great PALM Beer Glasses, a bottle of the PALM Ale and a book by Ben Vinken called Belgian Beer on the Menu. This is a cool set and was excited to get that beer chilled so I could taste it. Now I know many Europeans enjoy beer warm, but no thanks. Not me.

I have to say that I enjoy my beer mild and smooth without a lot of heavy grains and definitely not a dark beer, so when I poured this I was a bit nervous. It looked a bit on the dark side (lol) but this is an ale. First sip and I was a happy girl. This is very smooth! There was no after taste, just a smooth flavor that was delicious to me. I shared a few sips with my mother in law who is not a beer drinker at all and she enjoyed it. My Hubby said it was okay and didn’t like it as much as other beers he enjoys. Whatever… lol

The glasses are awesome. They look like brandy snifters and they apparently are supposed to control the foam better so you get a nice mixture of beer and foam. The book is really cool. The author compares beers to certain foods and tells you what works well with each other and includes some recipes. It is a great gift book and my hubby really enjoyed reading it.

Unfortunately for me, PALM beer is not located anywhere near me. I will have to go into San Francisco to find the nearest retailer, darn it. In the mean time, I will keep my eyes peeled for the day PALM is all over the US.
