Best Friends Occasional Enemies by Lisa Scottoline & Francesca Serritella

Today is the release date of a very humorous book written by a mother /daughter team. Best Friends, Occasional Enemies By Lisa Scottoline and Francesca Serritella is a look at relationships that moms and daughters experience.

I was invited to review the CD version of this book and it was fun to listen to the authors read their stories. The book is written story by story and many times I found myself smiling at the conversations mom and daughter held, their arguments and their normal life activities. Many sounded somewhat familiar to me! Here are some snippets… see what you think.

New York Times bestselling author Lisa Scottoline and her daughter, Francesca Serritella, are the best of friends – 99% of the time. They’re number one on each other’s speed dial and they tell each other everything – well, almost everything. They share shoes and clothes – except one very special green jacket, which almost caused a catfight. In other words, they’re just like every mother and daughter in the world. Best friends and occasional enemies. Now they’re dishing about it all: their lives, their relationship, and even their carb count.

Lisa on being a Mom: Motherhood has no expiration date. Francesca lives in the city, and I worry about her all the time. My daughter moved out, so why am I still lactating?

Francesca on being a Daughter: My mother is always right, just ask her.

Lisa on Things Every Daughter Should Know: Your mother is always thinking about you, but that’s not creepy. Your mother will never forget who did you dirty in the sixth grade, for which you can thank her. And your mother will never stop asking you if you need to go to the bathroom before you leave the house. Well, do you?

Francesca on Closet Wars: My mom is a great dresser. Mostly because she’s wearing my clothes.

Inspired by their weekly column, “Chick Wit,” for The Philadelphia Inquirer, and including a bonus interview with the authors, this audiobook is one you’ll have to pause – just to stop laughing!

The audio was read well and you can get a sense of the authors dry humor when telling their sides of the story. I enjoyed their stories, annoyances, humor, celebrations, pride and frustration with each other. It makes me look at my relationship with my mom and realize many parent/kid chats are so similar LOL We all have the same instincts and when you can laugh about it, your love shines through.

Put Best Friends, Occasional Enemies on your shopping list for the mom or daughter in your life. I think they will enjoy laughing and remembering their similar stories too!
