We love homemade pumpkin pie here at our home and unlike most Americans we enjoy making it all year long whereas most folks make it during the fall holiday season only. With that said…I thought I would share my great aunt’s Pumpkin Pie recipe with all of you today. This is a classic-style recipe that utilizes a store bought pie crust.
Classic Homemade Pumpkin Pie Recipe
2 unbaked pie shells
1 1/2 c. pumpkin
1/2 c. milk
1/2 can evaporated milk
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
2 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp. soft butter
Let butter soften to room temperature. Mix all ingredients together, starting with dry ingredients first, then the moist ones. Mix well with electric mixer. Bake at 425 degrees F for 25 minutes in a preheated oven until center of pie is done. Remove and let cool before serving.
