My Aunt is Moving to Edmonton in Canada

October 14, 2011 by Shelly

Last evening the entire family was together to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday and we had a really great time. My aunt Helen was at the party and she surprised us by telling us she was moving to Edmonton in Canada and plans on being there for the next 2-3 years for a new job position that she accepted.

Once all of our party guests left I got my laptop fired up and got online with my aunt so that we could check out some Edmonton rentals because she will need to rent a 3 bedroom house and wants a yearly lease. We spent the next 2 hours browsing several web sites and we both were pleasantly surprised at how affordable rent can be in Edmonton. I think it’s a lot cheaper than here in the states!

We did find a few places that have “peaked” her interest so she is going to make appointments to see those next week when she is up there for a few business meetings. This one place that caught her eye is totally adorable, kind of reminds me of a country cottage but pretty large in size. It has this beautiful wrap-around porch, 2 fireplaces, large front & pack yards and even a little one-bedroom detached guest house is on the property. I think that would be perfect because then family and friends can come up to visit her and stay in the guest house.

My aunt is really excited about the move and the new position she got within the company and is really looking forward to this new direction that her life is taking. I think “change” is usually (but not always) a good thing! She also loves snow sports and winter weather so I think she will love the weather up there in Edmonton!

Anyway…hubby and I plan on going up to visit her early next summer once she gets moved and all settled in.
