Murano Glass is the most well known creators of art glass having perfected glass making fusion back in the 1500’s and hundreds of years before. The village called Murano is where the master glass makers learned the technique and perfected their craft in secret, only sharing it with a few and passing the techniques to their apprentices.

Millefiori (‘a thousand flowers’ in Italian) is a complex technique of making intricate patterns from multiple tiny glass beads with flower designs entirely by hand. The pendant measures 3/4 inches in diameter and is set in 24 kt gold-plated sterling silver frame. It comes with an attractive velvet pouch and a certificate of authenticity. The piece I received has blue flowers on the outer ring with an interior ring in red and a smaller ring in white with one single blue flower in the middle. There are shots of yellow inside the flowers themselves too. Just amazing detail!
I held the pendant up to the light and viewed it that way and the detail is phenomenal. There is no backing on it so the pendant is viewable and wearable on both sides with the gold frame encircling the glass side only. I am honored to hold a piece of art such as this in my hand knowing the history and the amount of technique and time it takes to create this. I will treasure this and enjoy wearing this for a long time! Wow…
