Today I would like to introduce you to the company called Educational Insights based out of Southern California. Educational Insights is the manufacturer of playful products with serious educational value, including subject-specific classroom products, teacher resources, educational toys, and games. Their products are designed by seasoned educators & parents who know that children love to learn when you make that learning experience fun!
When you visit the Educational Insights online web site you will find that it’s really easy to navigate. The web site has three tabbed categories which are the sections for Parents, Teachers and Classroom Jeopardy. Since I am a mother and grandmother…I could spend hours just browsing around their parent’s section of the web site.
My Review: Educational Insights sent me their new Everyday Uses Rock & Card Set to review for all of you. I was really excited about this review because we had a nice rock collection for our daughter when she was growing up & she still has it and is going to pass it down to her daughter some day. The Everyday Uses Rock & Card Set comes with the following:
12 rocks and minerals, 12 (9″ by 6″) double-sided information cards, storage tray with 12 labels, full-color identification chart and a teacher’s guide with activities and reproducible worksheet. The set also includes genuine specimens of rocks and minerals which are as follows: Bauxite, Graphite, Pyrolusite, Coal, Halite, Sphalerite, Dolomite, Malachite, Sulfur, Feldspar, Marble and Talc.
This set is for ages 8 and up and for children in grades 3 and up. Our wee one is ONLY 2 years old so we are reviewing this on her behalf and when she get’s older it will be hers to go along with her inherited rock collection.
I love the over-side informational cards and there is one for each of the rocks/minerals included in the kit. For an example, there is a card on Malachite and on the Malachite card you will find photos of the mineral, information about the mineral, how the mineral is used today along with what kind of products are made from Malachite. These cards give your kid’s a great educational lesson about each of the rocks & minerals in easy to read language that is understandable for their age group. Inside the lid of the storage box are color photos of each rock/mineral so that your kids can label each one with the labels that are provided in the kit. There is also an instructional sheet with various activities on it to help your kids learn even more about all of the rocks/minerals in this kit.
Overall Impression: We really LOVE this Everyday Uses Rock & Card Set from Educational Insights! It is a fabulous product and hubby and I really enjoyed going through it and look forward to sharing this with our wee one when she gets older.
