Today I would like to introduce you to the company called Educational Insights based out of Southern California. Educational Insights is the manufacturer of playful products with serious educational value, including subject-specific classroom products, teacher resources, educational toys, and games. Their products are designed by seasoned educators & parents who know that children love to learn when you make that learning experience fun!
When you visit the Educational Insights online web site you will find that it’s really easy to navigate. The web site has three tabbed categories which are the sections for Parents, Teachers and Classroom Jeopardy. Since I am a mother and grandmother…I could spend hours just browsing around their parent’s section of the web site.
My Review: The great folks over at Educational Insights sent me their GeoSafari Tuff Scope to review for all of you. I knew as soon as it arrived that my 9 year old nephew was going to love this product! This is a 2-in1 microscope that is perfect for use in a classroom or for use at home and it enlarges images up to 400x their original size. It features a 2x continuous optical zoom, transmissive & reflective LED lighting and a storage drawer. It is made for ages 5 and up. What is really cool about this scope is that you can remove it from the base and take it outdoors for fun use outside too!
I had my nephew come down to my house right away after it arrived so that he and my hubby could take it outdoors to check out some things. They headed into the backyard and looked at dirt, debris, leaves, tiny twigs and even a ladybug under the scope. They spent an entire hour out there in the 90 degree heat checking things out. I think my hubby enjoyed the experience just as much as my nephew did. We love how light-weight and portable it is and it’s super easy to use!
After they were done in the yard he brought it in so he could look at “carpet fibers” under the scope. After the “play date” my nephew was as happy as a clam with his new scope and took it home with him. Since then my brother has reported to me that my nephew C has been spending a lot of time looking at a variety of things with his new scope! yeah! I would much rather kid’s do educational things like this than sit their butts in front of the TV all day long. We give the GeoSafari Tuff Scope a huge 2 thumbs up!
