Today I have a wonderful company to introduce you to called Oberon Design. This company makes all of their leather and pewter products in Santa Rosa, California and they have been in business since the 1970’s. The company built their reputation making refillable journal covers that are made out of hand tooled leather. The company does not carry inventory and each of their journal covers are handmade ‘to order’. Their leather is custom tanned for them in the good old USA. The boutique tannery they work with produces natural, drum dyed, unpainted leather for them that works well with their tooling and embossing work. The leather dyes that they use are produced in the USA and Britain and are considered much safer than those produced in Asia.
The Oberon Design pewter products are hand cast in their studio shop in Santa Rosa and they use only the purest, lead-free, food grade Britannia pewter. This pewter can be cast at very high temperatures that result in a low tarnish, high polish finish. Oberon Design carves their own molds and cast their own products in small batches of 6-12 pieces at a time which insures quality. Everything about this company is super impressive!
My Review: I have done a product review for Oberon Designs before so I was really excited about doing a second one. This time around I received two beautiful pure pewter necklaces to review for all of you. First up…the beautiful Celtic Cross Necklace that I picked out for my husband. This is a great unisex design that both men and women will enjoy. The cross pendant measures 1 1/4″ by 1 1/2″ in size so it is a great size (not a dinky pendant) and is hand cast from 100% pure pewter (lead-free pewter) which is durable and beautiful. The pendant is on an adjustable genuine leather cord so you can adjust it to fit your neckline. The design work on this cross is intricate and beautiful and my hubby loves the Celtic knots on this particular piece. It’s a great necklace and he has been wearing it every day since receiving it. It can be worn casually, semi-casually or to the workplace office.
We also received the beautiful Wildflower Necklace that is also done in lead-free 100% pure pewter and is on an adjustable genuine leather cord. This piece I gave to my almost 26 year old daughter because on the back of the pendant medallion it is inscribed BLOSSOM and since she has become a mother 2 years ago she has really blossomed into a beautiful young woman and mom. I gave it to her as soon as it arrived and she teared up when I told her why I selected this piece for her. The pendant itself measures 1 3/4″ in diameter and has a lot of intricate floral work on it. It can also be worn casually, semi-casually or to the workplace office. Since I have given this piece to my daughter a few days ago…she hasn’t taken it off except to shower. I love the inspirational message on this and the meaning behind it and it was the perfect choice for my daughter.
Overall Impression: I absolutely LOVE both of the necklaces I received and they made the perfect gifts for my husband and my adult daughter. They are beautiful and extremely well-made and for the price…you just can’t go wrong! I invite you to check out Oberon Design to see all of their genuine pewter jewelry pieces! You will find pendants, necklaces, earrings and hair barrettes and all of them make perfect gifts or purchase a few for yourself. We give these items 10 stars out of 10 stars!
