Today I have a wonderful company to introduce you to called Oberon Design. This company makes all of their leather and pewter products in Santa Rosa, California and they have been in business since the 1970’s. The company built their reputation making refillable journal covers that are made out of hand tooled leather. The company does not carry inventory and each of their journal covers are handmade ‘to order’. Their leather is custom tanned for them in the good old USA.
The Oberon Design pewter products are hand cast in their studio shop in Santa Rosa and they use only the purest, lead-free, food grade Britannia pewter. This pewter can be cast at very high temperatures that result in a low tarnish, high polish finish. Oberon Design carves their own molds and cast their own products in small batches of 6-12 pieces at a time which insures quality. Everything about this company is super impressive so if you are looking for pewter jewelry or pewter hair barrettes…you need to check out Oberon Design.
My Review: The generous folks over at Oberon Design sent me 2 beautiful hair barrettes for my product review. I have very short hair but I am going to grow it out this fall so I will need some barrettes at that time. However…my 25 year old daughter has long, thick, curly hair and is using the barrettes until I need them. First up…the Wildflower Hair Barrette which measures 70mm in size. This gorgeous hair barrette is made from lead-free 100% pure pewter and was hand cast in the Oberon shop by expert craftsman. The hair clip itself is made from strong and durable steel that was imported from France. These clips will not pull or tug at your hair which makes them a better quality hair clip. My daughter wore this hair clip to work a few days ago and used it to pull her bangs back and her sides up. She was very impressed with this hair clip because her hair is super thick and curly and it held her hair in place all day long and was very comfortable to wear. She received a lot of compliments when she wore it & all of her co-workers wanted to know where she got it.
We also received the Morning Glory Pewter Barrette that is 70mm in size. I will admit…this one is my absolute favorite of the two…not sure if it’s because of the Morning Glory flowers or because of the beautiful shape of this hair barrette. The day after my daughter wore the first barrette she wore this one into work. Again…it was super easy to put into her hair and was comfortable to wear. It is made from lead-free pure pewter just like the first one and the hair clip itself is made from steel. This hair barrette sells for $14.50.
Overall Impression: My daughter and I absolutely love these pewter hair barrettes from Oberon Design! They are extremely well-made from high quality material and the designs are just beautiful! These barrettes can be worn casually, semi-casually or wear them for an evening out on the town. I think they make a fabulous gift too!
