Today I have a wonderful company to introduce you to called Oberon Design. This company makes all of their leather and pewter products in Santa Rosa, California and they have been in business since the 1970’s. The company built their reputation making refillable journal covers that are made out of hand tooled leather. The company does not carry inventory and each of their journal covers are handmade ‘to order’. Their leather is custom tanned for them in the good old USA. The boutique tannery they work with produces natural, drum dyed, unpainted leather for them that works well with their tooling and embossing work. The leather dyes that they use are produced in the USA and Britain and are considered much safer than those produced in Asia.
The Oberon Design pewter products are hand cast in their studio shop in Santa Rosa and they use only the purest, lead-free, food grade Britannia pewter. This pewter can be cast at very high temperatures that result in a low tarnish, high polish finish. Oberon Design carves their own molds and cast their own products in small batches of 6-12 pieces at a time which insures quality. Everything about this company is super impressive!
My Review: The generous folks over at Oberon Design sent me 2 pairs of gorgeous pierced earrings to review for all of you and by now…I am sure most of you know that I love Oberon Design and have reviewed products from them before. First up…the stunning Carmen Earrings! This pair of pierced earrings are made from lead-free 100% pure pewter and they have nickel-free earwires which I love because they sit comfortably in your ears. They measure 1″ wide by 1 1/2″ long making them the perfect size for all face shapes and hair lengths. When you look at this pair of earrings you will see an elegant shape that features a beautiful floral motif with beautiful leaves around it. The details and intricate work on this pair of earrings is just stunning! There is a left earring and a right earring so it took 2 castings to make this pair and they are all hand-casted in small batches which ensure the high-quality that you expect and deserve. I wore this pair of earrings out to dinner on Tuesday and received a lot of compliments on them and I was dressed semi-casually…although they can be worn casual or dressed up. They were super comfortable and light-weight in my ears. I just love them!
I also received the Paisley Earrings which are also hand casted from lead-free pure pewter and they feature nickle-free earwires. They measure 1″ wide by 1 1/4″ long and there is a left and a right earring. When you look at these beautiful pierced earrings you will see that they are in a paisley shape that has intricate swirls and designs on them and I love the scallop edge on them as it speaks “elegance” to me. I think this pair is very flattering to any shape of face and can be worn with any hair length. I wore these out to lunch on Wednesday afternoon and I was dressed casually and my girlfriends were all envious of my new pair of earrings! These earrings are light-weight and super comfortable to wear.
Overall Impression: I love BOTH pairs of pewter earrings that I received from Oberon Design! They are extremely well-made, comfortable to wear and are just beautiful to look at! I highly recommend that you check out Oberon Design and take a peek at all of their beautiful pewter jewelry pieces!
