Spanish for Kids Las Estaciones DVD for Preschoolers

Teach Kids Spanish DVD WhistleFritzToday I have a new DVD that I would like to talk about with all of you parents and grandparents who care for little ones. The video is produced by Whistlefritz and is called Spanish for Kids. This video is an award-winning Spanish immersion DVD called Las Estaciones (The Seasons). This title will be available for purchase on April 26th, 2011, just in time for Cinco de Mayo. The video was shot in HD and comes with a Parent/Teacher translation guide. What a great video to expose your little ones to the Spanish language.

Here is a little bit of info about the DVD: Produced by Whistlefritz, Spanish for Kids is an award winning DVD featuring the adorable Fritzi, a lovable animated mouse who interacts with live-action adults and children to help teach Spanish. In Las Estaciones (The Seasons), Fritzi wants to celebrate his many joys associated with all four seasons, from sledding and snowball fights in the winter (el invierno), to trick-or-treating in autumn (el otono). It’s a year-round celebration for young viewers to enjoy with Fritzi and all his Whistlefritz friends!

Research has shown this Spanish immersion teaching technique to be the most effective way to teach young children a second language. Each upbeat program in the Spanish for Kids DVD series combines whimsical storylines, colorful animation and graphics, delightful characters, live action footage, and irresistible Latin music that children will want to experience again and again.

My Review: My 22 month old grand daughter came over for a play date Monday evening so we sat down to watch the DVD together. The video is recommended for ages 2-7 but even at 22 months of age, it held Gia’s attention the entire way through. The video has an approximate running time of 30 minutes which is the perfect length for preschoolers. I loved that the video combined animation with human characters which I feel is important for learning at this young level. The animation was superbly done and held both of our attention with the graphics crystal clear. The music in the video was upbeat, had a catchy rhythm and was fun to sing and dance to.

After the DVD was done playing, little Gia said “Gan” which means again in her language. We thoroughly enjoyed watching this video together and when she went home…she took it with her. My daughter has told me that they have watched it 4 times in the past 24 hours! I guess you could say that little Gia gives this video a big 2 thumbs up!!!

We would like to thank the PR company that we work with for supplying us with a copy of the DVD for our product review. This is a fabulous video for preschoolers and a great introduction to a second language for small children.
