Oberon Design – Leather Journals and Pewter Jewelry

Oberon Designs Leather JournalsToday I have a wonderful company to introduce you to called Oberon Design. This company makes all of their leather and pewter products in Santa Rosa, California and they have been in business since the 1970’s. The company built their reputation making refillable journal covers that are made out of hand tooled leather. The company does not carry inventory and each of their journal covers are handmade ‘to order’. Their leather is custom tanned for them in the good old USA. The boutique tannery they work with produces natural, drum dyed, unpainted leather for them that works well with their tooling and embossing work. The leather dyes that they use are produced in the USA and Britain and are considered much safer than those produced in Asia.

The Oberon Design pewter products are hand cast in their studio shop in Santa Rosa and they use only the purest, lead-free, food grade Britannia pewter. This pewter can be cast at very high temperatures that result in a low tarnish, high polish finish. Oberon Design carves their own molds and cast their own products in small batches of 6-12 pieces at a time which insures quality. Everything about this company is super impressive!

Shelly’s Review: Oberon Design sent me a beautiful Moleskine Journal in the Van Gogh’s Sky in Sky Blue color for me to review. As a writer…I always appreciate high quality journals and this leather journal cover is beautifully embossed! It measures 6″ by 9″ in size…the perfect size for your purse, brief case, tote bag or nightstand drawer if you are using it as a daily diary.

* Cover is 6″ wide x 9″ high and weighs 18 oz with the notebook inside.
* Built-in easily replaceable elastic place holding band.
* Hand cast Britannia Pewter button with long-lasting thong closure.
* Accommodates 5″ x 8.25 inch Moleskine notebook only.

I love the deep navy blue color of this leather and it’s just not surface dyed…it is dyed all the way through (aka drum dyed leather) so what does that mean? If you would scratch the cover you won’t notice the scratch as the color is all of the way through the leather. The leather is super soft and substantial, not a thin flimsy piece of leather. When I look at my new journal I see this in the handbag of those rich & famous ladies…but fortunately for us gals…we can afford them because they only cost $65.50 which I think is a bargain for this type of high quality!

Oberon Designs Pewter Earrings

They also sent me a pair of their pewter earrings in the Fleur de Lis design.They measure 1 1/4″ wide by 1 3/4″ high. They are on Sheppard ear wires and are super light-weight and comfortable to wear. Since I have an issue with nickel being in my jewelry, I appreciate that they are nickel-free. I love that these earrings can be worn casually, to the office or dressed up with a little black dress for a special date. I am absolutely in love with both of the products I received from Oberon Design.
