Licorice International – Snack Happy
Normally when we have a review and I get to choose a product, I can do so relatively quickly. Not so with this company! One of my favorite candies is red licorice and it took me forever to choose! LOL The good news is that our sponsor has a huge selection of licorice candy from all over the world. Licorice International has been making licorice lovers happy for many years! They offer nearly 160 types of licorice from 12 countries as well as some other types of licorice flavored candies and select others.
The Review
I am sure you can expect how thrilled I was to be able to do this review. I selected several different types of licorice to try. I do have to admit, I am not fond of black licorice at all and I am pretty picky as the the licorice that I normally eat too, so this was an experiment for me.
The first one that I got was a Red Licorice Sampler. This sampler includes Kookaburra Strawberry and Raspberry Twists from Australia, Cherry Chews and Red Scottie Dogs from the United States. I had never tried any of these before and they all had different textures and flavors. The Kookaburra’s are cut in about 1 inch pieces and they are a pale red, pink really. Smooth texture and when you bite into them, they almost have a gumdrop feel. The taste is good, a very light flavor of strawberry. The next one from Australia is the Raspberry Twists. These also are in 1 inch pieces and have a bit of a twist to them. The flavor is a bit stronger that the first with a raspberry taste. Both of these I like but I am a twist kinda gal so I preferred that one.
Next in the sampler was the Cherry Chews. These are a small round drop and definitely like a gumdrop in texture. The flavor is great. I am not a big fan of gumdrops, so not my favorite, but I like it because of the great flavor. The Scottie Dogs are really good too. A fun shape and a bit harder in texture but a great traditional licorice flavor. I like this because actually I enjoy my licorice a bit stale so it is more chewy and not soft so that it melts away. This is a great texture!
Next I tried the Kenny’s Red Licorice Candy Twists. I love these as they are the traditional twists that I normally would enjoy. Wonderful flavor and they are in the long 5 or 6″ length. These also come in tons of other flavors that you can enjoy like grape, watermelon, rootbeer and more! How Fun!
My last treat is the Orange and Creme Chews. These remind me of old-fashioned Creamsicles. The combination of orange flavor and creamy texture is good. These are also great because they are Gluten-free and Kosher Parve. Great to know if you have dietary restrictions. Licorice International actaully has a whole range of items for special diets such as gluten-free and sugar-free products.
