I am so excited to tell you about a fantastic business today. I am a lover of handmade crafts especially ones that produce beautiful one of a kind art. This company produces handcrafted Dichroic Glass Jewelry, Pendants & Glass Art so gorgeous you will just be in awe. Dreams of Glass is the name and it is a compilation of a small group of friends that enjoy the art of glass making, jewelry creation as well as creating art.
The things you see on the site consists of everything from original sculptures, modern, contemporary, abstract, and wearable art. Here is some info from the site. “The kind of Glass Blowing we do is called lamp-working. Our jewelry and art is made with Borosilicate Glass or the brand name, Pyrex. It is a very Hard Glass that is durable and scratch resistant. It’s so durable the thermal insulation tiles on the space shuttle are coated with borosilicate glass.
A lot of our jewelry and sculptures use a thin film of metals like gold and silver encased within the glass called dichroic. Dichroic stems from the fusion of the Greek word di-chroos, which means two (di) and color (chroos) and refers to the capability of some crystals to show two different colors when you look at them from different angles.” And the work that they produce is awesome. I know I would have a terrible time selecting a piece from their site. It is all so beautiful.
The Review: The folks at Dreams of Glass sent me a lovely pendant on a sterling silver chain. It was packaged very well in a jewelers box with plenty of cushioning so nothing would happen to the piece. The glass pendant I received is clear with a crackle effect to it and it has a shot of colbalt blue running length wise through it, from top to bottom. The Pendant has a sterling silver hoop attached for it to hang from the chain.
I love that this piece is so versatile. You can wear it from a chain or change it to a piece of ribbon or silk and it will still look marvelous. The color of it is perfect to wearing with anything. Dressed up or dressed down, you cannot go wrong. I would love to have several of these in all different colors of the rainbow. It is awesome!
