My Review: The generous folks over at Gummy Lump sent me the Melissa and Doug Fruit Play Food Set for my product review. I have a 21 month old grand daughter who loves playing in her little play kitchen that we got her for Christmas so I knew this foodie set would be perfect for her.
All of the wooden play food pieces are solid wood (not hollow) and packaged into a wooden fruit crate…too cute! The set comes with a banana, kiwi, melon slice, pear, lemon, orange, strawberry and a wooden play cutting knife. The piece aka halves fit together by velcro and when your little one plays with the set he/she can use the wooden knife to cut the fruits a part and when done playing they become whole fruits again! I love the painted details on the fruit pieces…nothing over the top but nicely done. I love the weight of each piece…solid but lightweight. I also love the sizes of these pieces…most are life-size so they are not tiny miniatures that will get lost in a day or two. This is a great set for imaginative play and it certainly has an educational value too. I love that you can turn the wooden fruit crate over and use that as the cutting board and when your little one is all done playing with it…store it nicely in the wooden crate!

Overall Impression: I love the Melissa & Doug line of wooden play food toys! They are super high quality, well made and extremely affordable! These play food pieces are meant for years and years worth of play…I can even see these being packed away for when my grand daughter has children some day…heirloom toys! My little Gia will sit for hours upon hours playing with these toys and to me…that is quality play! I don’t want her hooked on TV and Videos and would rather her play & entertain herself with quality made toys like these. I plan on buying several more play food items from Gummy Lump for my grand daughters Easter gifts & Birthday gifts this year!
